Welcome!

September 29, 2008 Posted by President, Maryland Women's Crew

The school year has started and that means the fall season is in full swing! You can find our team down at the boathouse at 5 am everyday practicing on the water. After a summer away from school and from rowing we are back energized and excited to embark on a great fall together.

Thank you to all of our family and friends who have continued to give us support! Your contributions have helped our team to reach a new level and we couldn't have done it without you. Our new 8+ racing shell has arrived and it is fantastic! It is an M2 black Vespoli with red lettering with state of the art equipment. We are very excited to use it throughout the semester both on our home river and away at our regattas.

I would also like to extend a warm welcome to our new novice class of Fall 2008! They are eager to learn and have so much in store in the coming months. So welcome!!!

As we continue to row through the changing leaves, the mornings grow crisper and the competition greater. From the few races we have had already, this season is shaping up to be one of the best ever!

Row Hard, Cox Loud!

Pittsburgh, PA: The Maryland Women's Crew showed no mercy as they raced against clubs and collegiate teams on the Ohio River. With the competition high, the boats stayed focused and pulled hard to victory.
In the Club 8+ race, Maryland Women finished first by an amazing 37 second lead over second place VCU. The new M2 Vespoli 8+ was coxed by senior Sari Lewis, with the stroke as senior Miriam Johnson, seven junior Andrea Dragan, six junior Abby Hunt, five senior Ariel Kelman, four senior Ellen Hayes, three junior Ana Valencia, two sophomore Jillian Neifeld and bow sophomore Briana Lindberg.
