The 2007-2008 Maryland Women's Crew Team

The ladies of Varsity Women's team are establishing themselves as some of the best and most competitive rowers in the Mid-Atlantic region. The Pitt News recently wrote in an article, "The elite squad throughout the Head of the Ohio was undoubtedly the team from the University of Maryland -which was at or near the top in nearly every event they entered." Making a name for themselves in every race they enter, this year's team is a force to be reckoned with. The Spring 2008 season is bound to bring great success and glory for this phenomenal crew.

Jason Harris returns for his third year as assistant coach of the Maryland Women's Crew Team. Jason's fresh point of view provides an environment that enables Maryland to become a national power.

Jason's experience as a rower in the University of Maryland club system provides an unparalleled perspective to success as a club regarding the relationship with the Student Government Association, Campus Recreation Services, and University of Maryland Mens Crew Team.

Jason began coaching novice crews his junior year for the University of Maryland Men's Crew Team while rowing. Upon graduation, he remained in College Park, and began coaching the Womens Crew Team as an assistant.

Jason started rowing at the University of Maryland in Spring 2001. Jason has been a member of the Mens Crew team competing as a bow in numerous boats including 2001 Novice 8, 2002-2003 Lightweight 4. In May 2004, Jasons Lightweight 4 advanced to the semi-finals of the Dad Vail Regatta. Graduating with a degree in Mathematics in 2004, Jason became one of the first rowers for Maryland Crew to row all four years in college. Jason has seen Maryland crew evolve through all stages of club-hood, and looks to bring Womens Crew to the next level.

She enjoys spending her summers surfing and her winters skiing. Heather joined the crew team because she didn't know anything about rowing and wanted to try something new. "It's such an addicting sport. I love that feeling during a race when you think you can't row any harder and the cox calls for a power 10. And even though you feel like you are about to die, you're still able to push yourself harder and harder until you cross the finish line."
